Start Doing

Are you a master procrastinator? Or a ‘why do today what you could put off until tomorrow’, sort of person? Do you like to bury your head in the sand? Or have you got big dreams that never seem to materialise? Well, I’m here to tell you to put your excuses down, to pull your big girl/boy pants up, and start doing. Now! Not tomorrow, next week, or after your next holiday! Now!

I know it’s easier for me to tell you to get on with it than it is to actually start doing whatever it is you planned on doing. My year hasn’t exactly gone as planned; I guess it’s a bit hypocritical of me to tell you to start doing when I’m constantly making excuses for myself.

At the start of the year, I had big ideas, big intentions, and even bigger plans for the future. I wanted to:

  • Lose weight.
  • Eat cleaner.
  • Become more spiritual.
  • Rebrand and grow my blog.

I’ve touched on each, but have mostly found myself making excuses. My endometriosis has been getting me down and I think I have been using that as an excuse. It does affect me, quite significantly at times, but if I don’t start doing now then I’ll never start doing.

I want to eat healthier and I’ll buy healthier food, but end up chucking it out when it’s gone off – probably because we’ve ordered a few takeaways. I want to improve my fitness so I’ll get my exercise DVDs out. But then I’ll spend the next few days looking at them next to the TV – never having actually put them on. I have bought loads of spiritual and mindfulness books but I’ve only read one of them.

So this is me putting it out there, in public, so I am held accountable.

I WILL START DOING. FROM TODAY!

I will start doing:

  • Exercises several times a week, even if it’s just a ten-minute walk around the block. Something is better than nothing.
  • Meal planning so I’m only eating healthy nutritious meals – and deleting the Just Eat app from my phone!
  • Going to bed half an hour earlier to read my new books.
  • I have rebranded my blog, but I need to make a proper schedule so I can be more productive with it.

Are you ready to stop making excuses and start doing too? Even the tiniest step forward is a step in the right direction. I can do it. You can do it. We can all start doing today. Who knows, your life could be completely different this time next year.

    Good luck with your ‘doing’, great idea to put it down in words to make yourself accountable. I keep making excuses about exercise. I’m really going to try and get back into swimming when the children go back to school/nursery (oh there’s another excuse for not doing exercise as the kids are at home!)

      I used to love swimming, I don’t know why I stopped – I probably had an excuse for it! Haha. No more though. It’s time to.get rough with myself haha. Thank you for the comment x

    Also don’t beat yourself up if you miss a day! Every day is a brand new day! I love accountability, I text a friend last night who uses etsy successfully to say I wanted to set up a shop. She gave me some good tips and I giving myself a kick to get it open by the end of the week! 😝‪Thank you for linking up to the #familyfunlinky‬

    I have been known to procrastinate! I do have a schedule though. I find if I put everything that I have to do (and I mean everything) in my calendar, then I will do it. It works quite well. Although I do move things around from time to time, but I never delete them! Thanks for joining us at #TriumphantTales, hope you’ll come back again on Tuesday!

    It’s great that you are writing things down so you are clear on what you wish to achieve and focus on. Scheduling in time to do each thing so for example a Sunday maybe a good day for meal planning for the week ahead maybe your next step. #TriumphantTales
