Making A Great First Impression When Selling Your Home

If you are planning on selling your home, you will want to get the amount of money that you think that it deserves. There are a huge number of different things that can affect the value of a property though, and it is essential that you do everything you can to boost the value of your home by raising its curb appeal. 

Before you start any work on your home, get some valuations made on the property. Try and get some advice from real estate agents in your area to understand the types of changes that you can make that will add the most value to the property. 

Tackle Issues In The Garden

If you haven’t managed to do much to your garden in all of the time that you have lived there, you might find that there are some issues that need to be addressed. Firstly, you should look for any problems that may be a cause for concern to potential buyers and their mortgage surveyors. This might include Japanese Knotweed growing in your garden or tree roots that threaten the structure of the nearby property. For issues such as these, you will need to hire a Tree services company that can address these concerns in a safe and constructive manner. 

The next area of concern for the garden will be making it more aesthetically pleasing while adding practical benefits for families to enjoy the space in the future. If there is not a patio area, you might want to think about having the garden relaid in order to create social spaces. Buyers will look for these things in a home. Without them, you might not be able to get the full asking price. 

Tidy up the lawn. This means levelling it all out and straightening edges. If there are weeds in amongst the grass, try and get rid of these. A well-kept lawn will look great, however, a shabby lawn that is filled with weeds won’t quite have the same lustre. 

Make The Exterior Look Great

The exterior of your home is the thing that potential buyers will see first when they view it. First impressions count for a lot, and if the exterior does not spark interest, then chances are that any would-be-buyers will have made up their minds before they have even stepped foot inside. 

Start off by painting the walls and window ledges if you are able to. Clean your weatherboards, and replace any broken or missing tiles. Give your windows a good clean, and if needed, replace your front door. 

Make sure that your driveway and paths are all clear and well presented. Your fences should be in good condition and painted. 

Making The Right Impression

You only get one chance to make a first impression, so you need to do everything to make it count. Invest some effort into making your home look great from the outside and you will reap the rewards when it comes to selling.
