Bedroom Basics: 6 Things You Need For A Peaceful Space

There are plenty of ways that you can decorate your bedroom, but there is one thing that everyone wants from the place in which they sleep. Peace. Pure, unadulterated peace. We spend all day long commuting to work, sitting in an office and – in some way or another – staring at a screen. With this in mind, you need one place in your life that doesn’t have stress, screen time and more stress; the bedroom could be that place.

Let’s take a look at six things that you need for your bedroom to be the most peaceful place in your home:

Lighting Options

Whether you like to sleep with the curtains open or not, you need lighting options. Many people love to install blackout blinds or curtains in the bedroom because they like to sleep in darkness. Not only this, but well-placed lamps and corner lights can be the best thing that you put into your bedroom. This way, you get the balance from darkness when you want it to help your body to sleep, and light when you want to soften the space.

A Luxury Bed

Luxury bedding and a vast bed should absolutely be on your list of wishes for your peaceful bedroom. A large bed gives you the space to sleep in any way that you feel most comfortable. Make sure that you have the space, and then create the budget for some beautifully soft bedding that will keep your dreams sweet.

Calm Colours

Peaceful bedrooms require a serene colour palette. The best way to put this together is to look at which colours have calming effects. Think about powder blues and pale lilacs, cool grey shades and warm cream colours.

Empty It Out

A cluttered bedroom leads to a cluttered mind, so it’s time to look at your bedroom situation. That door chair covered in clothes? It’s got to go! Sort it out, get the clothes in the closets and get the chair into another room. You cannot possibly get a great night of sleep in an overcrowded room, so use methods like this to help you to declutter.

Decor Is A Must

You don’t have to have a massive canvas by a famous artist, but you do need to think about how you can decorate your bedroom correctly. Choose relaxing art, keep it at a minimum and add something pretty. Artificial flowers in coloured vases can make your bedroom look beautiful, which does so much to make it a peaceful place to be.

No More Screens

Bedrooms are for sleep, sex and pillow talk. They’re for curling up with a good book in a window seat. They’re for quiet reflection, meditation and general thinking for yourself. Screens like phones and TV? Leave them out. Use an actual clock for your alarm and leave your phone on the hall table. There is no need for screens in a place of peace and serenity.

Your bedroom has to be a place that you feel relaxed and at rest; make it happen.
